The Kurtsystem applies modern technology to the business of training horses
(and respectively to training of camels).

Our company develops machinery with the objective of decreasing or replacing human intervention in the training of horses and camels, in order to decrease or eliminate errors, prevent carelessness and accidents often caused by man. There are currently two types of “systems,” developed through many years of experiments, prototypes and experience, which are still today in continuous evolution.

The first system is the Kurtsystems Car, consisting of a training vehicle with a trainer section, shaped in the form of horseshoe that allows the horse to be driven on any type of racetrack during its training. The system provides for fast gallop exercise at speeds of up to 60 kmh, however it is particularly useful for training a horse at gallop speeds of 40-52 kmh. This system can also be applied to trot pacing. An advantage of the system is the precise regulation of gallop speeds, based on heart rate monitoring or post exercise blood lactate measurements, as well as the absence of jockey weight burden. This system has the potential for sophisticated fitness testing as it is fitted with the necessary equipment to check heart functions(electrocardiogram), oxygen intake and pulmonary ventilation (air mask) and movements (video cameras and articular sensors provide a computerized representation of movement: gait analysis). Each of these tools serves to maximize safety aspects and eliminates the risk of falls for the morning jockey, fatigue, muscular acidosis, etc. Once inside the car, the horse or camel is secured by special safety belts that perform the functions of supporting, containing and correcting the strength of the horse, thereby guaranteeing the maximum level of comfort and safety.
Before the horse is secured with the belts, it is introduced into the vehicle, where silicone doors then enclose the animal, allowing the operator a quick and easy connection process. Once the vehicle departs, the doors open and the horse begins its workout. Through the incorporation of its extensive equipment, this system provides the opportunity of directly testing the horse's level of preparation, its true potential and its critical point of fatigue, thereby allowing for an early analysis of its limits, behavior and weak points for which the animal could be assisted by traditional training methods or by veterinary care.

The second system is the "Kurtsystems Rail", consisting of, in this case, a train of box cars hauled by an electric locomotive that moves along an aerial platform, assembled on a track that may vary in size and length of up to over 2000 meters (we currently have one of about 1400 meters at our disposal). The box-cars can hold two horses (or camels). Kurtsystems Rail operates in a similar way as the Kurtsystems Car with respect to silicone doors, the special safety belts and some of the medical equipment, with the main difference being that with the rail system you can train up to 50 horses simultaneously, using a maximum of three or four people to oversee the entire convoy.

Kurtsystems Rail enables the training of horses at a trot and slow gallop speeds and could be expected to be superior to treadmills as the gallop is on a natural surface. Strictly controlling warm-up routines and the implementation of a standardized gallop program at predetermined velocities would facilitate the development of regular fitness tests, important for the early identification of potential cardiovascular and respiratory limits with regard to performance.

The two systems include an instruction manual filled with details of how to correctly and profitably operate the systems. With regard to trotter and ambler horses, a special system of rubber bands has been predisposed for the two sides of the horse. This system teaches the horse not to break to a gallop by quickly bringing it back to a trot.

The training phase is explained and illustrated in detail to guarantee a serene entry and stay in the box. Suggestions are offered regarding a variety of possible training strategies using the equipment. Tests carried out and experiences gathered demonstrate that horses or camels benefits from this type of training as evidenced not only by its improved performance level but by its enhanced temper and psychological well being. Regarding children those who work with camels are faced with serious diseases, even death later on in their life. To resolve the problem of the absence of the jockey and that of the weight difference, we have elaborated the incorporation of silicone saddles of various types and weights modeled in conformity with the anatomical shape of the horse's back. These few lines can only partly explain how the system functions and the advantages of these modern technologically based KURTSYSTEMS.

However, merely the emotion of personally driving the Kurtsystems Car, the satisfaction of bringing the horse to a sprint, and the possibility of implementing a detailed training program backed by technical support with regard to speed, intensity, length and distance will enable you to truly realize the value and unbelievable advantages that these innovative systems have to offer.
